Singha Merjosari Park

Malang as one of the famous tourism city always develops its city arrangement every year. As we can see that the arising of many new city parks in Malang become the green spaces for tourism. Then they can be enjoyed by all Malang people for free. One of the well-known park in Malang is the Malang town square which is close to Malang central post office.  Many Malang people enjoy their free time to get relaxation and make acquitances there. But, do all Malang people know that Malang Government has built new tourism park which is free to be accessed and enjoyed by all Malang people?

The name is Merjosari Park or popularly called Singha Merjosari which is located in the south Mertojoyo, Merjosari village, Lowokwaru district, exactly in front of the new Dinoyo traditional Market. This is the first park that is built based on the eight elements of green city park. The eight elements which are used as the principals are green design, green community, green open space, green building, green waste, green energy, green water, and green transportation.

            This park which lays on the field with 29.012 meter square wide is aimed to meet the requirements of Space Arrangement Decree. The decree states that the government must provide social and cultural interaction space, playing ground, and place for learning together to meet the everlasting life.

The position of Singha Merjosari Park is precisely in front of new Dinoyo traditional market facing to the east. The main entrance of the park is on the north which is equipped by a large parking place and some food cafeterias that will serve the visitors various foods while they are enjoying the beauty of the park.

Actually the building of this mini park has not completely finished. According to one of the security guards whom is on duty in this park, the construction of this park is still in the first phase of building and it still continues to the second and third phase to enlarge and complete its sophisticated facilities for the visitors.

In its first phase of building, the developer has built Singha Merjosari Park on 5.966 meter square farms completely with many facilities such as gazebo, sand beach area, open theater, foot therapy, scare botanical garden, motorcycle parking and toilet. Although it is still on the first phase of building, it can satisfy the visitors to enjoy their time. It can be seen from the number of visitors who come to the park every day, especially on Saturday afternoon. Every afternoon many children are playing in the sea beach area and their parents are walking on the small corrals on the park to have foot therapy. Furthermore, based on the security guard statement, this park is still crowded of visitor in the evening. The gazeboes are really good and romantic places for visitor to enjoy the beauty of the night stars above the farms with the shines of the parks lamp lights.

            Since this park is developed based on the green community element, the government of Malang city never limits the visitors’ freedom to enjoy and get relaxes on this park as long as there is no drug, alcohol, and violence. Moreover, the visitors’ freedom in this park is also guaranteed by the rule that the retail dealers are not allowed to sell their products inside the park. So, the visitors can enjoy their day without being disturbed by the promotion.

            For the second phase of its construction, this park will continue to complete its facilities on its north until the football yard which is on the back part of the park. The facilities include the providing the park signs, ready drinking water zone, additional playground, education farms, welcome gate, security guard and information office, and solar energy station. In 2014, the third phase of construction will focus on the adding of gazebos with various facilities such as Wi-Fi, water park, fish pond, water fountain, jogging track, some supporting facilities for health, and scare plants botanical garden. After finishing all the construction phases, this park will be one of the most visited destination park in Malang. So, why do you get confused to decide the place for relaxing?
